Romelu Lukaku wants a chance under Jose Mourinho

Chelsea sticker Romelu Lukaku is still hoping to play for Chelsea, but the Belgian striker is likely to wait until after the World Cup to resolve his future.

The 21-year-old joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011, but has started only one Premier League game for the club and has yet to score.

However, Lukaku has impressed on loan at West Brom and Everton in the past two seasons, and has scored four goals in two friendlies for Belgium over the past week.

He has two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, but has been linked with a loan move to Atletico Madrid as Chelsea reportedly close on the signing of Diego Costa from the Spanish champions.

Lukaku had been keen to learn his future before playing at the World Cup, but he has confirmed that his ambition is to be given the chance to make his mark at Chelsea.

"It would be nice to get clarity beforehand, but that will not happen, so I'm completely focused on the World Cup," Lukaku told Het Nieuwsblad.

"You know, I still have a two-year contract at the biggest club in England, because that's Chelsea. So I still hope to play there. Chelsea have a good coach."

Lukaku followed up a hat-trick against Luxembourg last Monday with the opening goal in Belgium's 2-0 win away to Sweden on Sunday and he is happy with his form heading into the World Cup.

He added: "I have been working hard on my game over the past few months and everything seems to be coming out now.

"I have a good feeling about this competition."
